State of the Art Equipment

At SVC we stay as modern and state-of-the-art.  There are always new advancements being made, new research being done, and new instruments being designed…and we are right there at the leading edge.

One of our diagnostic instruments is the Canon Retinal Camera. It allows us to take a high res (22.2 MP) photo of the inside surface of the back of the eye. The information we obtain from these photos is extremely valuable in helping us to first establish a baseline of your ocular health, and then to continue to monitor and perfectly document the health of your eyes – the retina (macular degeneration), the blood vessels (high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol), and the optic nerve (glaucoma).

We have also have installed a  Canon RK-5 Auto Refractor (AR) / Auto Keratometer (AK). This instrument takes a measurement of your prescription by calibrating the optical properties in your eye with infrared light as well as the shape of the surface of the eye (cornea).

The Keratron Corneal Topographer is an extremely precise and accurate instrument we use on every contact lens patient and every patient on which we are performing corneal reshaping, as well as any patient with abnormalities of the front surface of the eye ie keratoconus or pelucid marginal dystrophy.

The Sonogage 50 Mhz Corneal Pachometer is an extremely precise and accurate instrument we use on every Ortho-K lens patient as well as any patient with keratoconus or glaucoma suspicion.  The instrument is so precise it measures the corneal thickness which is needed to predict Ortho-k outcomes as well as monitoring corneal integrity..

The Nikon Video Slit Lamp Imaging System is a high tech instrument that allows us to capture pictures of fitting characteristics of an Ortho-k lens on the cornea.  It depicts the thickness of the tear layer between the lens and the eye.  It is also used to capture ocular pathologies.

The Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer is the gold standard for neurological testing that allows us to measure the sensitivity of your retina. We perform a screening test on every patient. The results can tell us if you’ve lost any vision, even if the loss is slight enough that you haven’t noticed yet. This gradual loss of vision can occur with several conditions, including glaucoma, diabetes, neurological problems, and cataracts (and many others).

Your eyes reveal more about your health than you know.
